Danger Radio

We shot this video for Director Dan Dobi last January. The band is Danger Radio and they’re from Seattle. This is the third video I’ve DP’d for Dan and its always been a really fun, and positive collaboration. He’s very smart and most importantly (to me) always knows exactly what he wants, or can give an answer immediately. Check out Dan’s work at the link above. He’s a great director AND editor.
I’m really proud of this video because of what we did with the ridiculously small lighting budget. I wont even post it here, you would laugh. We used everything we had in every shot and when we discovered the band had a couple home made Par-boxes on their van, well, it was like Christmas…
And I’m super proud of our crew. We hire Jules, Nghia, Jill & Steve whenever we can and they’re all top notch crew and awesome people.
Here’s my full (Awesome) crew:
Jules Medina – Gaffer
Nghia Khuu – Best Boy Electric
Justin Duquette – Electric
Jill Arnold – Key Grip
Steve Baker – Dolly Grip
Tim Ryan – Grip
& last but certainly not least, Dani Jacobs – 1st AC
It’s important to note that Immense credit should go to the very talented production designers that had an equally minuscule budget.
I did all the camera work with our Pani-HPX 500, shooting DVCPro HD – 720P. Nearly every shot was moving and Steve our dolly Grip got a workout. I’m particularity fond of the lighting change during the bridge. We shot this at 60fps with a sped up scratch track and Dan synced it in post. I think it’s pretty freakin sweet.
Check it out!
